Family correspondence covers Hansell Baugh corresponding with various writers while he was collecting the letters of Frances Newman for his book. These writers and friends include Joseph Blumenthal, owner of Spiral Press; Elva de Pue Matthews; Henry A. Newman; Margaret Newman Patterson; and Walton Brooks McDaniel II.

The collection consists of letters, photographs, biographical information, writings, friendship album (Mary McWhorter), account book (James Hamilton McWhorter, Jr.), and information on family reunions and the family cemetery in Oglethorpe County. Most of the letters were written by the McWhorter brothers to their parents and sisters during the Civil War. Their company moved through many Virginia locations, such as Chancellorsville, Orange Court House, Spotsylvania Court House, Madison Run Station, and Petersburg, where Robert McWhorter was killed in battle on June 20, 1864. There are also several pre-war letters from James McWhorter while he was a student at the University of Georgia. A set of typescripts is included for many of the letters dated 1859-1865. The later correspondence deals mainly with genealogy research done by McWhorter Milner, son of Mary McWhorter Milner. In addition to photographs of the family and the family cemetery, there are three of Grady Memorial Hospital staff in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. W. Hal Moncrief, a friend of McWhorter Milner, was a doctor at the hospital and is in one of the photographs.

The collection consists of genealogy, correspondence, writings, photographs, daguerreotypes, and printed material. The early correspondence concerns the LeConte, Furman and Carter families. More recent correspondence is of Carolyn Shaw McMillan, a great granddaughter of Emma Florence LeConte Furman. Much of this correspondence deals with efforts to preserve LeConte-Woodmanston and to reconstruct the botanical garden. In 1973 the site was placed on the National Register of Historic Places, and of the original 3,354 acres, 63.8 acres were deeded to the Garden Club of Georgia in 1977. Most of the writings are by Emma Florence LeConte Furman, who kept diaries for many years, and also wrote of her travels and her family.

There are also several letters from John Marsh to his family concerning his wife's death.

Large black-and-white photographs of John Harris Bowers (1836-1909) and wife Elizabeth Rice Bowers (1840-1881), parents of Aaron Newton Bowers and grandparents of Esther Bowers Verner. The collection consists of correspondence, writings, photographs, financial papers and printed material. The correspondence of 1938-1939 deals with waterworks improvement and street paving projects when Foster was mayor of Dallas, Georgia. From 1984-1988 there are handwritten and typed copies of a column, "Here comes the Judge," which Foster wrote for the Dallas New Era. In the columns, Foster described his friends, family, and Paulding County history. There are typed copies of several chapters of his book "Paulding County: Its People and Places." There is both correspondence and printed material for the Georgia Sesquicentenary Commission, 1981-1984; the Paulding Paul Revere Bicentennial Committee, 1975-1976; and several items concerning financial and voter information of Dallas and Paulding County, Georgia.

The diary (1879-1883) was kept by Hill and his wife Sallie. One of the scrapbooks concerns prohibition and the other includes material about George R. Barker. The collection also includes a will of Catlett Campbell and other legal documents regarding him.

The collection consists of personal and business correspondence, legal papers, writings, letterbooks, and other miscellaneous items. The bulk of this material deals with family lawsuits concerning the estates of Joseph E. Brown (father of Joseph M.) and Julius L. Brown (brother of Joseph M.). Box 1 includes letters written by Joseph M. Brown (1909-1926, mainly drafts and typescripts) Theodore Roosevelt, Hoke Smith,S. V. Sanfor, and Thomas Watson. Also in this box are a few of Brown's writings on military history of the Civil War, as well as his views on labor unions. Box 2 consists of legal documents and correspondence to and from other people, including other Brown family members. Boxes 3 and 4 contain letterbooks of Julius L. Brown and cover the periods 1894-1895 and 1908-1910.

The collection consists of correspondence, writings, printed material, photographs, financial papers, and scrapbooks. The correspondence is divided into family and business with family letters mainly among Alexander H. Stephens, John A. Stephens and Linton Stephens. They discuss family matters, politics and legal cases. Included is a letter from Alexander H. Stephens describing his trip to Athens to take his entrance examination, in which he describes the university and town as well as the countryside between Athens and Washington, Georgia. Business correspondence includes letters from Herschel Johnson, Howell Cobb, Joseph E. Brown, and Joseph H. Lumpkin. There are also items relating to John Stephens' imprisonment at Johnson Island (OH) during the Civil War. Letters during wartime included lists the members of the Stephens Rifles, flag design proposals, petitions for military positions, and discussions on the release of a Union officer from Andersonville. There is a folder of 1851 correspondence concerning a possible duel between Thomas W. Thomas and James M. Smythe, and materials regarding the surveying of Michigan and Texas Territories. Printed material includes several speeches of Alexander H. Stephens. The scrapbooks contain newspapers clippings about Alexander H. Stephens. Included is a plantation account book of the Simpson plantation, in which are lists of enslaved people, a journal of daily farm work, printed rules for managing farms and slaves, and signed contracts with freedmen.
